Lori's Art Depot & Community Center for the Arts is an adorable art-making space housed at the historic Slidell Amtrak Train Depot Museum and is a retail shop for artwork by owner Lori Anselmo. The facility offers classes taught by area artists in painting, drawing, crafting, beading, jewelry-making and fiber arts, as well as lessons in ukulele, guitar, and piano. Dinner at Palmettos on the Bayou

This charming restaurant is a large Acadian cabin that sits on the banks of the historic Bayou Bonfouca. The deck overlooks lush Louisiana cypress trees draped in moss and offers an expansive outdoor eating space. Palmettos on the Bayou is known for Louisiana classics such as rich lobster bisque, oysters bathed in spinach cream sauce then broiled, and fried artichoke hearts with remoulade sauce for dipping. On Sundays, the locally-renowned live-jazz brunch is a foodie haven.
